What's the Difference Between a Townshend Tea Tax and a Super Gulp Super Tax?

Taxation without representation was one of the major sticking points causing the Revolutionary war with England. In fact, if you'll recall the Boston tea party when colonists dressed as Indians through tea into the bay you might better understand. If you don't know this history, I suggest you go onto Wikipedia and look it up. The Boston tea party led to the Townshend Acts, to skirmishes in the streets, and eventually to the Revolutionary war. Okay so let's talk about this shall we?
It turns out that Americans don't like the concept of taxation without representation. Nevertheless, if the US citizens demand universal healthcare and they want the government to take care of them, just as if the government was their own parents, then as we all know the parents will take the responsibility on telling you what you can and cannot do, what you can eat, drink, when to go to bed, how much to exercise, and so on.
In fact, we have a little bit of that going on now don't we? Sure we do, we have the sin taxes on tobacco products, as the government doesn't want you smoking, because you might get cancer, emphysema, or some other disease and the government doesn't want to pay for that. Nor do the taxpayers wish to pay more money for people who don't take care of their bodies. This leads to an insisting that the government regulate more aspects of our lives, including our daily intake of products and food.
Indeed, on July 23, 2012 there was a brilliant Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal titled; "Mayor Bloomberg and Our 16.9 - Ounce Tea," by Seth Goldman which stated that apparently 16.9 ounces "is the perfect size? Who Knows? We willingly submit to the unforgiving judgment of the market." It turns out honest tea company's bottles will fall outside the New York City rule for beverage taxes as it is above 25 calories and above 16 ounces. Today "it is 16.9 ounces and 35 calories." If they put less in the bottle then the freshness will be gone due to more air, so they have to adjust their bottle size too.
Now then, people who work outside are not going to be hurt by the extra calories in flavored tea, plus they need to be putting into their bodies so much liquid when there is high heat and humidity, especially in New York in the summertime. Of course, if they wish to hydrate their bodies with anything other than water, there will be attacks on that. The government feels they have the representation, because they are now paying for your health care, and one could argue that they do have representation now unfortunately.
The problem with requesting your government to provide for you in the new era of the nanny state, is that you are giving up your personal responsibility to them, and they will make all the rules. How do you like it now? Not so much a guess? Please consider all this and think on it.
